This is an interview with the fellas of Deathtruck: Chris Savopoulos - Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals, Anthony Edmiston - Guitar/Vocals, Peter Tavoularis - Bass/Vocals, Chase Henderson - Drums
I thought it would be a bit fun to ask them a few questions, being that I know pretty much null about this 4 man band from Palm Harbor, FL. & I figured not many of you who are apart of the local metal music scene also new nothing, or very little of them. so without further anticipation.......... I give you Deathtruck :)
1. You guys are still fairly new to the local metal
scene, how are you fellas liking it?
Chase: “Stoked to be out of the garage.”
Peter: “We're so thankful for all the fans we've
gained since only March. everyone has been
very welcoming.”2. Have you been bombarded
with ridiculous
with ridiculous
amounts of advice? If so what was the best
advice as well as worst advice given?
Peter: “We haven't really been bombarded with
advice, actually.”
Anthony: “The best advice we've been told is "If
you're going for it, go full force. You have to
want it"
Chris: “The worst advice "Get a real job" or
"Have a plan b"
This is our plan A.”3. How was DeathTruck
established?
established?
Chris: “It started off in 2008, when Chase and
Anthony had a jam band.”
Anthony: “Peter and Chris were in a band
together also. Chris went to jam with me and
Chase, and later Chris wound up leaving Peter's
band. In need of a bassist, I asked Peter to fill
in on bass from guitar.”
4.What came first, the song or the naming of
the band?
Anthony: “The name came first, but we had the
instrumentals for an unnamed song that we
later called DeathtrucK.”
5. I was recently jamming to your tunes &
couldn't help noticing a slight Metallica like
sound. Would you say Metallica is influential to
DeathTruck? If so what are some other musical
influences?
Chris: “Yes, Metallica is a huge influence on us
all and individually.”
Peter: “As a band, Trivium, Metallica, Machine
Head, As I Lay Dying, Opeth, Avenged
Sevenfold, Pantera."
6.I've had the pleasure of seeing you guys play
a couple of months back in Tampa at The Brass
Mug. You guys seem very at home on stage. Do
any of you get preshow jitters?
Chris: “For a lot of us, it's different.”
Anthony: “No I wear a kilt on stage.”
Chase: “Sometimes the smaller the crowd, the
more jitters.”
Chris: “If half of the show likes you and half
hates you, its better to have a lot of likes as
well.”
7. DeathTruck has a song entitled "Fallen
Messiah" Do your personal beliefs figure highly
into what you create? & If so how do you
convert what you feel & believe into the frame
work of your music?
Chris: “The song itself was by Anthony and me.
I'm a Christian, while Anthony is an atheist. It
was a weird project that somehow came
together. My lyrics brought in with Anthony's to
create a story line of the fall of Antichrist."
8.Do you dudes currently have a demo out? If
so where can those whom may be interested
find it??
Peter: “Yes we have a demo, but we burn them
ourselves. We sometimes hand out copies at
shows but we will make one if someone asks.
We plan to go into the studio soon and have
physical copies and digital downloads. We are
on ReverbNation and Facebook.”
9. What is DeathTruck's biggest goal for 2012?
Chris: “Keep playing anywhere and everywhere
we can.”
Peter: “Hopefully before the end of the year we
can get in the studio and record our debut EP
and hope that the right people hear it.”
